I purchased 3 lenses for my Sony A55 camera, this was one of them. I was interested in covering the widest possible spectrum of distance at the highest quality so a 70-400 SSM lens covered a lot of ground. I must say that this is an impressive lens, both in looks and capability. The product shots really dont do it justice. When youre out and about with this baby attached to your Sony camera and its fully extended you instantly gain the gravitas of a pro ;) You may think that a lens like this is overkill but I can assure you that even at relatively close distances having a 400mm zoom is a marvellous thing. I took it to Taronga Zoo recently and used it exclusively in every situation, the results were fantastic.
