A very sharp lens with great optics and bokeh. I am enjoying taking lots of close-up shots and capturing all the detail. |

Great little lens, for me the macro range works better then the 1m+ range. Mechanically very sound, finishing on bar with the nikkor 85 1.4D and 17-35 2.8D, no creeping (part of the lens slide in and out due to gravity). Only got-cha for other filter users was the non-standard filter size of 55mm, instead of the 52/ 62/ 77mm, so one may want to invest in a step up/ down ring to go along with exist setup. Although not product specific, but Id like to complain (and hence low score) about was the courier of choice... Ive seen much-much more customer-friendly courier/s. |

This is proving to be a fantastic lens. It has been great for macro work but I've found that I'm using it more and more as an "every day" or general lens too. The images are crisp and sharp. I've found no need to use the lens hood as the front element is well back from the filter ring. The only non-positive comments I have are that the focus is perhaps a bit touchy in the inf - 3 m zone when focusing manual and I would recommend using the focus limit switch to prevent long hunts if using auto focus for macro work. The lens doesn't hunt often if at all in non-macro shots but if you are focusing close to 1:1 it may hunt and the lens will take a while to go in and out due to the large extension of the lens. Note that this is not really a problem as you should probably be using manual focus for macro work anyway. Don't worry too much about my "non-positive" comments above though, this is a great lens. |
